Women in Norwegian Design: 10 Current Design Favorites We celebrate Women's Day by showcasing some of our Norwegian design favorites from female designers over the last 10 years.

Marthine Spinnangr is a designer and sculptor based in Oslo, Norway. Her practice is deeply inspired by the subtle, quiet textures of the sea—weathered shells, softened stones, and the wavelets on the water’s surface. These natural elements inform her intuitive and reflective process, where forms emerge slowly and organically through touch and presence.

With a background bridging both art and design, Spinnangr’s work exists at the dynamic intersection of utility and sculpture. She creates handcrafted ceramic sculptures and design objects that balance emotional expression with refined form. Her work is featured in galleries, design stores, and curated collections.

And it has been an even bigger privilege to learn that the Norwegian Embassy has chosen to keep two of the works, The “Step By Step (Oh Baby)” table lamp which was created by House of Holmedal and The “Reaching for Stillness” sculpture  by Marthine Spinnangr. It means a lot to see Norwegian design take a permanent place in the embassy’s surroundings in London.
